How to Seal a Box with H-Taping

H-taping locks the major flaps and both side seams so cartons survive conveyor tosses better than a single centre strip. It is one of the cheapest defect-prevention habits in ecommerce packing.

Step-by-step H-seal

1. Close the inner flaps, then the outer flaps so the carton sits square.
2. Run tape down the centre seam with overhang on both ends.
3. Tape each side seam (the two edges) to form the “H”.
4. Repeat on the bottom if the carton will be handled heavily or stacked.
5. Rub tape down firmly so adhesive bonds to dusty kraft.

Common sealing mistakes

• Using short centre tape that does not wrap onto the sides
• Sealing over large voids so flaps can flex and pop
• Mixing weak tape rolls that lift in monsoon humidity
• Skipping bottom seal on heavy cartons
